Okay... here's the deal... I spent three weeks in Europe and couldn't be bothered to come up with a new funny song for the FuMP. I admit it. So, failing that, I pulled this parody of a ftriend's song out of my butt.
I also failed mightily in the "tell your friends about your tour" department. So this song might just make up for that, too.
But probably not.
Jenny Casey is a Nashville artist, whose lovely song "My Boy" is about her oldest son moving out of the house and going to college. You can learn all about Jenny [and buy her awesome new CD "Rockin' The House"] here... and you can find her album on itunes here... and you can hear the original "My Boy" here for free.
Music: Jenny Casey
Lyrics, production, guitars, bass, drums, mandolin, pedal steel, vocal, stupid fake drums and synth stuff: SG
Fiddle: Laura McGhee
Swiss vocal: Walter Frei
PS... a lot of this song won't make any sense, cause it's full of inside jokes. Here are a couple clues:
There is a trucking company in Europe called Schmitz, and they have trucks EVERYWHERE. So we invented a driving game called "Schmitz." If you see a Schmitz emblem, you yell "Schmitz!" at the top of your lungs, and you get a point. Jenny won the first round, 108 - 102.
Walter Frei is a music impresario from Liechtenstein who met Jenny in Nashville at the 2013 CMA Festival. He booked a week's worth of Switzerland shows for her in July 2014, and he treated us like family. The Freis had us over to their house several times, fed us like royalty, they were patient with our complete lack of German vocabulary, and they let us teach them stupid card games. We really appreciate Walter and all the Freis!
Walter's English got better as the week went on... and when we offered him some chocolate, and he responded by shaking his head and saying, "Chocolate makes me fat," well, it just cracked us up. His accent and his demeanor in the face of chocolate was hilarious at the time... and I promised to make a song called "Chocolate Makes Me Fat." I recorded Walter saying the "chocolate makes me fat" into my phone, and here's that song! Sort of.
